Corte Madera Schoolhouse
1913 View from Palm Hill
Corte Madera Schoolhouse was the local school. Amelia Pixley donated the land for the school. It was built for the children of farmers and ranchers. Henry C. Hall was the principal. To prepare the classroom for the day, the teacher would collect firewood for the wood stove and prepare soup to feed the students. Children used slates, chalkboard tablets, to write on. The pictures above are from 1910.
