Corte Madera Fire Department
The Volunteer Fire Department was formed in 1908 and cost $214 to build. It was located adjacent to Mahood’s. They first had a chemical engine and two hosecarts. One of the hosecarts was parked between Holy Innocents Church and Mahood’s Store at Station No. 1. The other was on Redwood Avenue. The Volunteer Fire Fighters had a baseball team. They played teams from other towns. The town dog, Laddie, is often in their pictures. The fire siren sounded at 8:00, 12:00, 5:00 every day.
